NEMO: A retrospective view of a Stellar Dynamics Toolbox

I will review the NEMO Stellar Dynamics Toolbox. In genealogy terms
this software precedes AMUSE by at least a generation. NEMO was
initially developed in 1986 at the Institute for Advanced Study, by
Piet Hut, Josh Barnes and Peter Teuben, and the code is still alive
and well. The current version supports N-body type simulations,
Orbits, Images and Tables, and is thus a versatile toolbox for a wide
variety of simulations and allows for comparisons of simulations with
observations by observing the simulation. I will also describe a
number of legacy codes (e.g. Aarseth, v Albada, Lindblad) that have been
incorporated in NEMO. I will also cover the role of the Astrophysics
Source Code Library (ASCL) and the importance of code citation, with
plenty examples drawn from NEMO.
