In this talk I aim to provide an overview of the ongoing LOFAR surveys projects that are mapping the low-frequency (<200MHz) radio sky with an unprecedented sensitivity and resolution. To-date we have accumulated observations that span 60% of the northern sky and detected over 5,000,000 sources (the majority of which have never been detected at radio wavelengths before). The surveys have facilitated numerous scientific studies in areas such as: Active Galactic Nuclei, particle acceleration in galaxy clusters; star-formation; stars and substellar objects; supernova; and cosmology. Here I summarise the properties, status, future aims and scientific highlights to date.
